Maternity Monday is a new feature on the GBGM Blog that is going to be exploring topics that are related to being a Mother. Each week I’ll ask a question ranging from silly to serious. This week’s Maternity Monday question is:

How did you lose your baby weight?

Looking back, I didn’t eat enough after Lilly was born, mostly due to stress and schedule. I lost my weight pretty quickly, but I don’t recommend the “I don’t have time for myself” diet to new moms! So what worked for you? I’m dying to find out how you guys lost the weight so quickly!

Every Mom Needs: Labels

Have you ever lost your child’s FAVORITE thing in the whole wide world?

I have.

We left Lilly’s favorite blanket at church one Sunday. The next day I called to check and the Daycare Worker said she hadn’t seen a blanket. I panicked. We did eventually get the blanket back, but I immediately made a resolution to LABEL Lilly’s favorite items, just in case.

I was excited to get the chance to review Applied Labels. I chose the ‘elegant’ font and two lines of text, with Lilly’s name and my phone number. You can choose a design if you only want one line of text. The labels are machine washable, which is great, but they are not made of fabric. The labels can be applied to any type of tag, or the inside sole of a shoe. I’m not sure why you would need to label your kid’s shoes, but I guess some one wants to!

You sandwich the garment tag in between two labels on items that will need to be washed frequently. I think it’s a good idea to use these in jackets, and I can see how it continue to be a useful item through school years. The first item I labeled was Lilly’s blanket. I really like the fact that although the label is durable you can take the label off just by cutting off the ends and pulling. The labels are also dishwasher safe and made in USA.

Unfortunately, Lilly ripped the label off of her blanket before I was able to take a picture of it after washing. 😦 It came out of the washer and dryer looking very much like it came in, but it was no match for my two year old! I think Applied Labels are great, but I think they would work better on items for newborns, because at this point Lilly notices if I stick a label on something.

Do you use labels? What are your favorites?

My 2011 Parenting Resolutions

Dear friends,

Here are my Parenting Resolutions for 2011:

  • Play more  – Whether it’s coloring, playing with dolls, or tea sets, I want to play with Lilly more, and that means letting other things go…. mainly my laptop.
  • Be patient – There are times when I really struggle with this, but I’m working on it.
  • Take time out – I’ve learned that Mommy needs a time out sometimes, whether that means going to bed early or dinner out with friends, I’m a much better Mom when I get a chance to recharge my batteries.

Did any of your resolutions involve parenting? What were they?

What do you do with toys your kids have outgrown?

I really have a hard time letting things go, especially Lilly’s things. Most of the toys she has outgrown are currently being stored in my garage.

Help me let go! haha!

Is your house as messy as mine? Good grief Charlie Brown!

The busy, busy month of December has left it’s sticky finger prints and crumbs all over my house. I tried to tackle it tonight but as they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day – haha!

Caldrea’s cleaning products are made with essential oils and are safe to use around your baby, or if you are pregnant. The wipes make clean up easy and are flushable and biodegradable. Sweet!
