A recent study released by the CDC shows that breastfeeding rates are increasing. In 2007 at least 3/4 of babies were breastfeed. According to the report 43% of babies are still being breast fed at six months and 22% of babies were still being breast fed at 12 months.

One factor that weighed heavily was the geographic location of the mother, proving that breastfeeding is more widely accepted and encouraged in Western states. Oregon and Vermont are five times more likely than Mississippi to breast feed. Income and education also play a role.
